When you have a baby, the most common question is ‘does he sleep through the night already?’ Of course not, it is a new born, he needs food every so many hours. But the question keeps coming. After half a year you start to doubt..maybe there is something wrong with me as our bub still wakes up during the night. After a year, you hardly dare to say ‘no, my bub is not sleeping through the night’. Our eldest was 2,5 almost 3 when she finally kind of slept all night. I didn’t mind the night bottles or kisses that much. What I did mind was the not getting her to sleep in the evening. Weirdly she slept easily during nappy time, but after dinner.. it was a challenge to say the least.
Last week my beau was in the US and came across this book. He instantly had to think of me hahahahaha. And I have to say, it’s hilarious and the frustration of getting your child to sleep is vividly written down. Guess this book is a very good contraceptive 😉 and a joy to give to new parents…
“The windows are dark in town, child
The whales huddle down in the deep.
I’ll read you one very last book if you swear
You’ll go the fuck to sleep.”
“The eagles who soar through the sky are at rest
And the creatures who crawl, run, and creep.
I know you’re not thirsty. That’s bullshit. Stop lying.
Lie the fuck down, my darling, and sleep.”
“All the kids from daycare are in dreamland.
The froggie had made his last leap.
Hell no, you can’t go to the bathroom.
You know where you can go? The fuck to sleep.”
hahah and so on.
