Melbourne is so inspiring when it comes to seeing art. So I listed a few events and galleries I thought you might want to check out as well:
British Royal Portraits
currently – 14 jul at Bendigo Art Gallery
It’s a bit of a drive outside of Melbourne, but I definitely want to see these portraits. I love old portraits. I recently bought a print by Beat Up Creations, she alters old portraits and porcelain plates with fun elements (also known as Altered Antique). Once mine is in, I’ll post it.
Another great presentation of old portraits and paintings is in NGV, 2nd floor. At the Krystyna Campbell expo about fashion from the late 19th century to the 21st. Here they combine old paintings with the most gorgeous evening dresses. Really beautiful.
The Age of Absurdy
currently – 23 jun at Blackcat Gallery
This expo is a small part of the total expo, but I like collage works 😉 So I do want to see this. What I also like about this gallery is that it is run by artist.
The Tangible Trace
8 jun – 1 sep at Tarrawarra International 2019
Think engraved concrete fragmented in hundreds of pieces, waiting to be taken by the audience as a trace of the work. Such installations or ideas trigger me. So, I’ll get in my car once more and head off to Healesville in the Yarra Valley. Heard their gallery cafe is also very good…
Affordable Art Fair
5 – 8 sep in Royal Exhibition Building.
I used to go to this fair in Amsterdam and successfully bought some artwork. Hope to succeed again as my walls are really empty. What I love about it is the variety of work and prices and all at your fingertips. I just bought tickets for the opening night, can’t wait!
